Murder and Mayhem in Norway:
The Norwegian Black Metal scene of the late 80s and early 90s was an infamous place of young men trying to outdo one another in a quest to prove who was most evil. From church arsons to murder, they would revel in their notoriety, affecting airs of inhumanity while behind the scenes, it was tearing the musicians and bands apart. Things finally came to a head on August 10, 1993 when the man many considered to be the heart of the scene,Øystein Aarseth, better known as Euronymous, was found stabbed to death in the stairwell of his 4th floor apartment in Oslo.
