On January 14, 1975, 17-year-old Lesley Whittle was kidnapped from her bedroom in Highley, Shropshire, England. When she failed to turn up for breakfast the next morning, her mother went off in search of her, finding a ransom note instead, that demanded £50,000 with instructions to follow. Over the course of the ensuing weeks it was found that the crime was connected to a series of robbery murders perpetrated by a man known only as "The Black Panther." The manhunt that followed would see that man become the most wanted person in Britain and his capture the stuff of movies.
